Rebels carry out deadly attack in Cameroon amid Afcon 2021

At least one man has been killed and another hospitalized in an attack carried out separatist rebels in Cameroon.

Local media reports cited residents of Buea in south-west Cameroon as saying one man was shot dead and another is in hospital with bullet wounds after the suspected rebels opened fire near Buea’s central market.

African Entertainment understands that a number of national football teams participating in the Africa Cup Of Nations (Afcon 2021) are based in Buea and train there.

Reports indicate that Cameroonian military has a significant presence in the town to counter any security threat.

On Tuesday, January 11, 2022, an opposition senator of Cameroon was reportedly shot dead in the city of Bamenda, in north-west Cameroon.
