The Government of Malawi has made an appeal to Mike Tyson, an ex-heavyweight boxing champion, to become its cannabis brand ambassador.
Malawi made the appeal in a letter addressed to Mr Tyson by its Agriculture Minister Lobin Lowe.
In the letter, the Agriculture Minister told Mr Tyson that the legalization of cannabis in Malawi in 2020 has created opportunities for both medicinal and industrial products.
The Minister also indicated in the letter that the legalization has also offered Malawi the opportunity to generate more foreign exchange.
The letter read: “Malawi may not go it alone as the industry is complex requiring collaboration. I would therefore like to appoint you, Mr Mike Tyson, as Malawi’s Cannabis Branch ambassador.”
Mr Tyson has since 2016 been into the business of selling cannabis products through his Tyson Holistic label.
Local Malawian media reports monitored by African Entertainment revealed that Tyson was due to visit Malawi last week but his trip was later postponed.
